Tech Shorts Episode 11 Searching My Learning Plan

Today I have a very special guest. Dolores and I are discussing how to quickly find events in My Learning Plan. With the professional development day coming up, it can be overwhelming to figure out which activities you need to sign up for. After you log in, there is a cool feature that allows you to efficiently search for type of activities or day of activities. Here’s how you do it.

Tech Shorts Episode 10 Playposit Settings

Today we’re discussing how to change the settings in a Playposit bulb. This allows you to set who can see it and search for it on the Playposit platform, as well as whether students can move forward, rewind, or must answer the question before continuing on. These options allow to customize your students’ Playposit experience.

Tech Shorts Episode 9 Playposit Bulb Link in Schoology

Yesterday we talked about how to create a Playposit Bulb. Today we’re discussing how to assign a video created in Playposit to a class in Schoology. This is a fairly simple process but you do need to be careful so that it is in fact assigned to a class and you can monitor results as they come in. This is a great tool for blizzard bags or for flipping the classroom.

Tech Shorts Episode 8 Creating a Playposit Bulb

Today we’re discussing how to upload a video to Playposit and how to create what they call a bulb, that can then be assigned to a class in Schoology. These tech shorts are all created this way. It allows the course instructor to set up questions and ensure that you actually watch the clip. In future episodes we will look at assigning the bulb we created today to a class, and we will also look at how to monitor progress.

Tech Shorts Episode 4 Problem with writing the year 2020

Today I will talk about why it is important to fill in the four digits for this year. You might have seen this on Facebook or in the news, but in case you didn’t, anyone can change a date of 1/7/20 to 1/7/2019 or 1/7/2021 simply by adding two more digits to your date. And if it’s a legal document like a check, this could cause you some problems. Here is an example:

Tech Shorts Episode 3 Screen Capture

Welcome back! Today I will walk you through two methods to capture a picture of your screen. Unlike the last episode, where we made a movie of what was happening on the screen, for this episode we focus on capturing an image that can then be used in documents such as Pages, Word, or Docs; or shared with others through email or airdrop.

And because it’s a file I can then share it, or put it in other documents as well. As always, let us know of your great ideas for topics for future tech shorts, and thanks for watching!

Tech Shorts Episode 2 Screencasting

Today I will show you how to use QuickTime to record your computer screen so you can create your own “tech shorts” for your classroom or for other folks. This is a great way to record instructions and save your presentation for future use, to send out, or for students who were missing.
